Black Friday 2024 searches reflect a dynamic shift in consumer behavior. While traditional search terms like "Black Friday deals" remain strong, there’s a clear movement toward early deal-hunting and more deliberate purchasing strategies. In the U.S., searches for "Black Friday deals" increased by 22% over the past year, averaging 453,500 monthly online searches. Globally, the term "Black Friday 2024" surged by nearly 100%, emphasizing the growing reliance on digital tools to plan purchases well in advance.

Semrush's analysis reveals how Black Friday trends differ by region. The U.S. leads in Black Friday-related search activity, with over 8.3 million average monthly searches, while global searches have soared to 23 million. Countries like Brazil have seen extraordinary spikes, with Portuguese searches for "Black Friday offers" reaching record levels, reflecting how the retail holiday has become a global phenomenon.

When it comes to online traffic, Amazon’s dominance remains unmatched, attracting 2.6 billion average monthly visits in the U.S., followed by eBay with 494.3 million, Walmart with 411.9 million and Etsy with 225 million.

Other notable global players like AliExpress and Shein have emerged as consumer favorites, with AliExpress drawing roughly 939.6 million monthly visits globally.

Established names such as IKEA, Nike, and Costco continue to thrive, showcasing their adaptability to digital-first consumer habits and sustained global appeal.

Black Friday has become a global phenomenon, and each region puts its own spin on it. Shoppers are more focused on affordability, value, and ethical practices, while also leaning heavily on digital platforms for product discovery and research.
